Kekeran is one of most sacred and sacral ritual that can only be seen in the village of Sebatu – Ubud, it’s a ritual where for the whole 12 days starting on June 27th this year, the local community are abandoned for doing any ceremony nor offer an offering to the god, goddess and or deities at home due to Ida Bhatara Sebatu which is the son of God in Batur temple having his meditation as it is believe that any ceremonial activities can distract his peacefulness. This ritual itself will be held from June 27th until July 09th, 2018.
Even the local community are abandoned for having any ceremony at home but during this sacred ritual, there will be 2 days where the community will hold a ceremony named Nyacahin on July 06th and Labuh Gentuh on July 09th.
Nyacahin is a ceremony where the local community offer and offering to the 3 stages of the universe, known as Bhur, Bhuwah and Swah according to the Hindu believes, then continued with Muat Emping where the local community offer 4 kinds of offerings of various kinds of rice whether cooked or not. Afterward, continued with Tegen Tegenan where those offerings above will be made and carried by the men at the village to the temple to reflect the balancing of the 3 stages of the universe.
